Synopsis:
Allison McKready is a succubus. So is her twin sister. But while Allison spends her summer break hiding in the library behind her Goth makeup, Jade fools around as often as she can. Allison can’t believe Jade would ignore their mother’s fatal example so recklessly, but concealing a cursed bloodline and its dangerous effects is far from Allison’s only problem. Mean girl Julie’s snob mob is determined to ruin her summer, and Aunt Sarah’s Bible thumping is getting louder. Only her new friend, Ren Fisher, offers safe haven from the chaos of her life.
When one of Jade’s risky dates leads to humiliation and sudden tragedy, Allison reels, and Ren catches her. But as her feelings for him grow, so does her fear that she’ll hurt him—or worse—in an unguarded moment. The choice is coming—love him or save him—but Allison might not live to make it. One way or another, the curse will have its due.

I requested this book a couple of weeks ago but I just got approved recently. I totally forgot about the succubus part. I was so glad I went into it blind(ish) because when the succubus part was revealed, I did a spit-take. (Yes, it is possible to do a spit take even if you weren't drinking anything.)

Allison McKready was not a bad character. She was very protective of her sister, which can be a good or bad thing depending on the situation. She was very responsible, she handled herself very well. She has a ton of problems with her life, she tried her best not to stand out as a Succubus. She was a very strong character at times but a very weak character at other times (like when she was with Ren.)

The only thing I didn't like about this book was Ren. I didn't think Ren was a bad character or anything. He was great! I mean, a guy who likes books and works at a library, isn't that every female reader's dream? But Ren made Allison weak. He did make her crack her shell open a bit and that was good but... she gave in way too easily. Their relationship also moved too fast considering the Succubus circumstances.

This book has an incredibly interesting plot, and the way Jade is weaved into this story is very clever. Jade is the basis of the story, the problem and the resolution even if she's not exactly present. Jade was a very impulsive decision maker and very slutty at times, though the way her character evolved during parts of this book was remarkable. I enjoyed reading about jade.

The Succubus situation will probably have you turning the page really quickly and the plot twists and turns will make your mouth hang open. Oh boy, are you in for a surprise. Considering all that happens to Allison during this book, she deals with everything with surprising maturity and I really respect her for that. I really enjoyed this book, the plot, the writing and the characters. The romance is the only thing that kept me from giving this a whopping 5 stars. (4.75 is pretty close though :D)

I definitely recommend you check this book out. If you already have, let me know your thoughts.
