The Reading Quest | Readathon Sign Up Post and TBR

August 04, 2017

Hi guys! I am going to be participating in the Reading Quest readathon hosted by Aentee @ Read at Midnight. The beautiful character artwork is done by CW @ Read, Think, Ponder. The readathon runs from August 13th to September 10th (Which is perfect because that's when my school starts.)

This is the most unique readathon you have ever heard of, trust me. I cannot be bothered to explain all the rules, since there a lot of them, but you can check out the concept and sign up here. Basically, you choose a character and you complete reading challenges based on which character you choose. Doesn't that sound cool?

I have chosen the Mage to start off with. I love magic, and I think the challenges associated with the character. So here's my TBR for the Mage challenges!

Book with one word in the title: Starglass by Phoebe North - I brought this book about a month ago and still haven't read it, and so I want to get to it. It's also one of the only books which I own which can complete this challenge. This is the first in a duology, so I also hope to get to the second one during the readathon.

Book with Magic in it: Firewalker by Josephine Angelini - This is the sequel to Firewalker, which is the book I chose for one of the other challenges. Since you can read the books in any order as long as you complete the whole character before moving on to a new one, I thought it would be fitting to include the continuation.

Book Based on Mythology: The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan - I need to get caught up on my Rick Riordan reads! This is based on Norse mythology. After I read this one and the sequel, I'll be caught up.

Book set in a different world: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - This is set in the Grisha world. Everybody and their mother loves this, and I really enjoyed the Shadow and Bone trilogy so I can't wait to get to this.

First book in a series: Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini - This is the first book in the Trial by Fire trilogy, and I own, so why not?

I also hope to do some of the side challenges

Expansion - Read a short story or Companion novel: Stars Above by Marissa Meyer - I have been missing the Lunar Chronicles world since I finished Winter, and this is a collection of short stories from that world! Yay!

Time Warp - A book set in the past or future: The Thousandth Floor by Katherine McGee - The sequel is coming out at the end of the month so I want to delve into this. This is set in the future where Manhattan has been turned into a thousand floor tower.

Potions - A book concocted by 2 or more authors: 10th Anniversary by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro - This is the 10th book in the Women's Murder club series which I've been reading in reverse order. I read books 11-14 in June and am ready to dive back in.

I know it's very ambitious, but the readathon is quite long so I definitely think I will be able to accomplish this. I will be doing updates every now and then, so stay tuned.

Have you read any of this books, and did you enjoy them? Are you participating? If so, what do you plan on reading? Let me know in the comments, and wish me luck!

    1. Thank you! I think I read the first star-crossed book but I never continued for some reason. I would love to buddy read it, but I'm not sure it would count for the challenge since you have to pick a different book for every challenge. I wouldn't mind buddy reading anyway!

    1. I've actually already read Sword of Summer, but it was ages ago (as soon as it came out) and I don't remember much, and I want to read book 2. I do remember I loved it though! IKR the covers are gorgeous! The spines are too, they're so shiny! I hope we both enjoy them :)

    1. Okay, I'm actually dreading reading Six of Crows now because if I don't like it, I feel like there's going to be a witch hunt against me. Rick Riordan is awesome, I cannot wait to continue on with the Magnus Chase books. Thanks!

  12. I also have the Josephine Angelini books on my TBR. They've been sitting on my shelves for years now. As I'm also starting with the mage path I may be able to change out a book of mine for Firewalker. (Ideas ideas...).
Your TBR definitely inspired me. Great to know there's people reading with a very similar taste to mine.

    1. Ooh, hope you get to the Josephine Angelini books! I just purchased them recently. Firewalker is the second book though, so beware. Awww, thanks, it's nice to think no matter what you can find someone out there who reads the same stuff as you. Happy reading fellow mage :)

  13. This is a great TBR! I've only read Six of Crows on this list, and I have to say it deserves the hype (Crooked Kingdom is my favourite of the duology though). if you liked Shadow and Bone then you'll adore this.

I'm also in need of catching up with Rick Riordan's books. I marathonned PJO and later HOO so I might end up doing the same for his other series. But first I think they are in need of a reread because it's been a couple of years.

There's nothing wrong with being a little ambitious (I have done the same). I hope you have a fantastic time with this challenge!

    1. Yeah, I loved Shadow and Bone, it has a special spots on my "favourites" bookshelf at home alongside the Mistborn trilogy. I am so excited to read Six of Crows, I wish the readathon would just start already! I've already contemplated just reading it now and choosing another book for that challenge.

Ah, yes, I will be kind of Marathoning the Magnus Chase series. I'll read Sword of Summer this month, book 2 next month and the final book in October when it comes out. Not the same though. I have reread PJO and HOO many times, though it's been a little over a year so another one might be due for me as well! I just love them so much.

Yeah, ambition is healthy! Good luck to you too! Come on, we can do this!! ;)
